Before Sharpsburg

A 34 year old farmer at Boon Hill in Johnston County, he was conscripted as Private, Company C, First North Carolina Infantry on 15 July 1862 in Johnston.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed home by November 1862 and still there when he was declared absent without leave after 25 February 1864. He was absent through at least the end of 1864 with no further military record.

After the War

He was back on his farm at Boon Hill by 1870 and was still there in 1900.

He married Martha Jane Peeden (1831-1883) in January 1849 and they had 14 children between 1850 and 1875. He married again, Perinie/Penny Brown (1853-1921) in 1884.
