He mustered out with his regiment on 24 June 1865 at New Bern, NC.

After the War

He compiled and published The Old Battle Flags. Veteran Soldiers' Souvenir. Containing a brief historical sketch of each Connecticut regiment, the various engagements, casualties, etc., during the war of the rebellion ... in 1879 on the occasion of Battle-Flag Day, 17 September 1879 - on moving the State's battle flags from the arsenal to the new State Capitol.
