Before Antietam

In 1860 he was a 16 year old picker tender - a cotton or woolen mill machine operator, living with his parents in Stafford, CT. He was a foundry man there when he enlisted as a Private in Company I, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 25 July 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled on 6 October but died, cause not given, at the Parole Camp, Annapolis, MD on 16 December 1862 at age 19.
