Before Antietam

A 17 year old clerk in Stafford, CT, he enlisted as a Private in Company I, 16th Connecticut Infantry on 11 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the foot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured on 20 April 1864 at Plymouth, NC and was a prisoner at Andersonville. He was paroled, date not given, and was discharged at the Parole Camp, Annapolis, MD on 20 June 1865.
