On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed home in October 1862 and was listed as absent without leave by August 1863, but was wounded by a gunshot to his brain, probably at Gettysburg, PA, in July 1863 and captured at Williamsport, MD. He died of his wounds in the US Army Seminary Hospital, Hagerstown, MD on 16 July 1863.
