He enlisted as a Private in Company A, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 at Griffin, GA. He was on furlough from 9 July 1862 to 9 September, when he rejoined his Company.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the leg and wrist in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on furlough from December 1862 into March 1863 and again from April into June 1863. He was wounded at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864 and afterward on furlough for disability to at least 10 March 1865. He was back with his unit on 6 April.
