In 1860 he was a 19 year old on his parent's farm at Dawson in Terrell County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 5 August 1861 in Richmond, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Winchester, VA by 2 October 1862.

After the War

By 1880 he was in Sumter County, GA.
