In 1860 he was a 15 year old farm boy on his father George's small place at Lutherville in Meriwether County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company B, 13th Georgia Infantry, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

His service from his Compiled Service Records,1 online from fold3, as N.W. Carr. He's not found in Henderson2 under either spelling. Personal details from family genealogists, at least one of whom has his death in 1860, and the US Census of 1860.
