Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 23 year old farm hand at Thomaston in Upson County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company D, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, mortally, shot through the spine at Winchester, VA on 19 September 1864 and captured. He died of wounds on 30 September 1864.
