He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured near Fredericksburg, VA on 29 April 1863, briefly at the Old Capitol Prison in Washington, DC, then a a prisoner at Fort Delaware by 7 May. He was paroled there, sate not given, and on furlough home from 5 October to 5 December 1863. He was wounded again between August and December 1864, place not given, and was in a hospital in Lynchburg, VA to at least February 1865, the last record in his military file.
