Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 16 year old on his parent's small farm at Griffin in Spalding County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company C, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 in Griffin.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on furlough from 27 September 1862 to 7 February 1863. He was surrendered and paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.

After the War

By 1880 he was a farmer at McDonough, Henry County, GA. In 1900 he was a clerk for a freight company in Birmingham, AL, and was clerking in a railroad shop there in 1910.
