Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 22 year old farmer near Dawson in Terrell County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company H, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 at Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his thigh in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a Richmond, VA hospital by 21 November and was furloughed for 40 days on 3 December 1862. He was killed at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864.

He probably married Catherine (?) before 1860 and they had a son Simeon (b 1859).

His brother John was also in Company H and wounded at Sharpsburg.
