Before Sharpsburg

A 16 year old farmer, enlisted as a Private in Company C, 13th Georgia Infantry on 8 July 1861 at Griffin, GA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a Charlottesville, VA hospital by 23 September, but left the hospital on an "irregular furlough" given by the Brigade Surgeon on the 26th, and returned to his Company on 18 December 1862. He was wounded again, by a gunshot to his left knee on 29 April 1863 near Fredericksburg, VA, and was in hospitals in Richmond and Danville, VA, but returned to duty on 22 May. He died at Hagerstown, MD on 5 July 1863.
