Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old on his widowed mother's farm at Lutherville in Meriwether County, GA. He enlisted as 3rd Corporal of Company B, 13th Georgia Infantry, on 8 July 1861 in Griffin, GA and was promoted to Sergeant before Sharpsburg.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough to about February 1863. He died of pneumonia at Orange Court House, VA on 2 December 1863.
