He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on wounded furlough to 24 October 1862. He was captured at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 10 May 1865 and died of chronic diarrhoea at Elmira, NY on 7 May 1865.
