The remainder of the War:
He was promoted Lieutenant Colonel on 31 October 1862. Wounded again at Gettysburg on 2 July 1863, and discharged on disability 18 September 1864.

After the War:
He was honored for War service with brevet rank of Brigadier General on 13 March 1865.
