From Oktibbeha County, MS he enlisted at Columbus, MS as a Private in Company C, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 19 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Staunton and Richmond, VA and returned to duty on 11 November 1862. He was promoted to 3rd Corporal on 1 June 1863. He was captured at Petersburg, VA about 2 April 1865 and a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD until released on 27 June 1865 after taking an oath of allegiance. He was then in Washington, DC and was furnished transportation to Memphis, TN.

After the War

Hy 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer near the Choctaw Agency in Oktibbeha County, MS.
