Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted at Alexandria, LA, probably as a Musician for Confederate service on 11 April 1861. He was assigned as Chief Bugler to the 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion by April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was probably wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, VA on 29 September, furloughed due to wounds for 30 days on 3 October, and returned to duty on 3 November 1862. Companies were added to the Battalion and it became the 48th Mississippi Infantry in January 1863, and he was with them to the end of the war. He was captured on 4 April 1865, sent to Washington, DC, and provided transportation to Philadelphia, PA.
