Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old farmer at Vicksburg, Warren County, MS. He enlisted at Vicksburg as a Private in Company H, 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion on 22 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Winchester and Richmond, VA then furloughed home by the end of 1862. He was judged disabled and detailed to the CS Commissary Department in Alabama - collecting "tax in kind" -about February 1864. He was surrendered and paroled at Selma, AL on 25 May 1865.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1910 he was a farmer in Dallas County, AL.

He married Lenora Boyd/Boaz Walker (1848-1880) in December 1865 and they had 5 children. He married again Lilly Ruth Walker (her cousin?, 1861-1933) in 1884 and they had 6 more.
