Age 18, he enlisted at Westville, MS on 26 April 1861 and mustered as a Private in Company B, 16th Mississippi Infantry on 29 May 1861 in Corinth, MS.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the arm and head in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was afterward absent, wounded, never returning to his Company, and died of typhoid fever at Mobile, AL on 9 September 1863.
