Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was 17 yeard old and lived with his parents and siblings at Westville in Simpson County, MS. He enlisted on 26 April 1861 at Westville and mustered as a Private in Company B, 16th Mississippi Infantry on 29 May 1861 in Corinth, MS. He was promoted to Corporal on 26 April 1862 at the Army reorganization.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the hand in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, by a gunshot in May 1864, probably at Spotsylvania Court House, VA, in a Richmond, VA hospital by 18 May, and on wounded furlough after 2 June 1864. He was back on duty by September 1864, with no later military record.
