Going by Reeves, he mustered as a Private in Company E, 16th Mississippi Infantry on 27 July 1861 Lynchburg, VA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his shoulder in action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals and on furlough to 28 August 1863, then discharged for disability from wounds.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer in Tangipahoa Parish, LA just across the state line from Osyka, Pike County, MS.

His service from his Compiled Military Service Records,1 online from fold3, as Reeves Rhodus. His Sharpsburg wound also from a casualty list in the New Orleans Times-Picayune of 29 October 1862. Personal details from family genealogists and the US Census of 1870 and 1880. His gravesite is on Findagrave; his stone has him as Reaves Rhodus.

He married Latitia Ann Addison (1845-1878) and they had 4 children between 1866 and 1872. He married again, Martha Schilling (1855-), and he adopted her two daughters.
