Before Sharpsburg

Age 18, he enlisted on 23 May 1861 in Woodville, MS and mustered as a Private in Company K of the 16th Mississippi Infantry on 27 May 1861 in Corinth. He was elected 4th Sergeant on 26 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the leg action at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was home on wounded furlough to at least October 1863, then reduced to Private and afterward listed as absent without leave. He was transferred to Brigadier General Thomas H Taylor's Cavalry Brigade inn the Trans-Mississippi Department on 24 August 1864, with no later record found.
