Age 30, he enlisted on 13 March 1861 at Raymond and mustered as a Private in Company A, 12th Mississippi Infantry at Corinth, MS on 30 April 1861. He was wounded in action near Richmond, VA in June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded again, in the leg at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was back with his Company by December 1862. He was listed as missing after the battle at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864 on his Company's muster rolls to December 1864, with no later military record.
