Before Sharpsburg

Age 26 or 27, he enlisted on 5 March (or 25 April) 1861 in Natchez, MS and mustered as 3rd Corporal of Company G, 12th Mississippi Infantry on 5 May 1861 in Corinth, MS.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled near Keedysville, MD on 20 September and in Richmond, VA by 7 October 1862. He was reduced to Private by the end of 1862 and was captured again, at Chancellorsville, VA on 3 May 1863. He was paroled on 4 May, and exchanged to return to duty by 14 May 1863. He was killed in a charge at Fuzzell's Mill near Petersburg, VA on 18 August 1864.
