He was wounded in the chest in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was absent sick early in 1863 and was captured on the Gettysburg Campaign on 7 July 1863 at Greencastle, PA. He was held at Fort Delaware and expressed desire to enter the US Army there on 30 August 1863. No later military record found.
