He enlisted at age 17 in August 1862. He was promoted to Corporal after Shepherdstown and Sergeant after Fredericksburg, in December 1862. He wa sappointed First Sergeant in May 1864 and First Lieutenant in May 1865. He transferred to the 91st Pennsylvania Infantry, but was not mustered for lack of officer vacancy. | |
