Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was a 21 year old laborer at Sharp Top in Cherokee County, GA. He enlisted as a Private in Company D, 23rd Georgia Infantry on 31 August 1861 at Big Shanty, GA.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the right shoulder and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 29 September 1862 in the US 2nd Division, 2nd Corps field hospital on the Hoffman Farm - the Hoffman House hospital - at Sharpsburg. His widow Milbry filed for his final pay in March 1863.
