Enlisted at New York City, to serve three years, and mustered in as private, Company G, on September 24, 1861. Promoted to Corporal on May 15, 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Promoted to Sergeant on February 1, 1863. Mustered out on June 12, 1863, by consolidation.
