Before Antietam

A 21 year old clerk, he enlisted on 30 December 1859 in Newport, KY as a Private in Company E of the 9th United States Infantry. He transferred to Company E, 4th US Infantry, then to Company G, dates not given. He was listed as a deserter on 17 September 1861, but was apprehended and returned to duty 10 days later.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
