Age 24 years at enlistment. Mustered in as first sergeant, Company C, on August 21, 1861. Returned to ranks, no date.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Wounded in action, slightly, ear, on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Transferred to Company B on June 12, 1863. Captured in action, no date. He died on October 5, 1864, at Andersonville, Ga. Dorence Atwater, A List of Prisoners Who Died at Andersonville, states that he died of scorbutus.
