Age 33 at enlistment. Mustered in as Corporal, Company E, on September 24, 1861. Captured in action on July 1, 1862, at Malvern Hill, Va. He was paroled, no date.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Wounded in action, wrist, on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Transferred to Company A on June 12, 1863. Captured in action on July 2, 1863, at Gettysburg, Pa. He died of disease on December 1, 1863, at Hospital No. 21, Richmond, Va.
