Basic information from McLernon1. Age 40 at enlistment. Mustered in as private, Company G, on September 24, 1861. Wounded in action, arm, on September 17, 1862. Promoted to corporal on December 24, 1862. Transferred to Company A on June 12, 1863. Returned to ranks, no date. He re-enlisted as a veteran on December 21, 1863. He deserted on January 29, 1864, on expiration of furlough. His name is also borne as Hambilton.
