Before the Antietam Campaign: Age 32 at enlistment, he mustered in as private, Company I, on October 11, 1861. Transferred to Company G on January 1, 1862. In the Antietam Campaign: He was wounded in action, body, on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: He was again wounded in action, seriously, thigh, on December 13, 1862, at Fredericksburg, Va. He died of his wounds on January 14, 1863, at Lincoln Hospital, Washington, D.
