Before the Antietam Campaign:
He enlisted in Company B, 5th Texas Infantry, on 10 July 1861 at Columbus, Texas.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 14 September 1862 at Boonsboro.

The remainder of the War:
He was detailed to a hospital in Texas as a nurse after Sharpsburg and through December 1863; ill in various hospitals throughout 1864; detailed as brigade dentist, November 1864.

After the War:
Practiced as a Dentist in Texas. Died of Tuberculosis and tongue cancer.
