Before the Antietam Campaign:
Listed as a 29-year old merchant in Albany (Dougherty County), Georgia in the 1860 Fedreal Census. He mustered as First Corporal in Company E of the 4th Georgia Infantry on 28 April 1861. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant on 6 May 1862 and First Lieutenant in August.

The remainder of the War:
Lost leg at Warrenton Springs, Virginia (roster has as the Wilderness, 5 May 1864) and resigned on disability in 1864.

After the War:
Living in Albany, Georgia about 1903.
