He was Mustered as 2nd Sergeant in Company K, 4th Georgia Infantry on 27 April 1861. He was elected 2nd Lieutenant 27 April 1862, and promoted to First Lieutenant in July 1862.
The rest of the War
He was promoted to Captain in October 1862, but killed in action at Chancellorsville (May 1863).
