Before Antietam

He was a 19 year old storekeeper in Stoneham when he enlisted as Private on 2 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was discharged 25 October 1862 to enlist in the US Engineers: 1st Engineers Battalion, Company B as an Artificer. He mustered out 3 September 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia.

After the War

He was married in Chicago in 1876. In 1880 he was in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1910 at Los Angeles, California, and in 1920 in Berkeley, California.
