Before the Antietam Campaign:
He was a 34 year old manufacturer when he enlisted as Private on 10 March 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
He transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps in June 1863. He reenlisted in April 1864, and mustered out of Company F of the 13th Regiment, VRC, on 13 November 1865.

After the War:
He died at age 100 years, 8 months, and 13 days.
