Before Sharpsburg

He was a student at the Georgia Military Institute in Marietta, Georgia (1852-53), and at the Baltimore Dental College (1861) before the War. He enlisted from Baltimore in April 1861 in Company G of the 2nd Georgia Infantry, joining his regiment sometime after.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company in action in Maryland.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1864, but was killed in action at the Wilderness on 6 May 1864 and "was buried nearby under an apple tree."
