Basic information from Commonwealth of Massachusetts1. He was a 26 year old clerk in Boston when he enlisted as Sergeant on 20 July 1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 10 January 1863, and 1st Lieutenant, Company G, on 4 August. He mustered out on 1 August 1864.
