He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 50th Georgia Infantry on 4 March 1862 in Quitman, GA.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was issued a parole at Boonsboro, MD on 3 October and was then a prisoner at Fort McHenry in Baltimore to 17 October, when he was sent to Fortress Monroe, VA for exchange. He was back with his Company by December 1862. He was surrendered and paroled at Thomasville, GA on 19 May 1865.
