Before the Antietam Campaign: Originally from Utica, he enrolled 17 May 1861 as Lieutenant Colonel, 26th New York Infantry. In the Antietam Campaign: In command of the Regiment at Antietam. The remainder of the War: Promoted Colonel 25†November 1862 (to rank from 19 September). Mustered out with the Regiment at end of its term on 28 May 1863 at Utica. After the War: He died from injuries sustained in a fall at his home "between Deansville and Oriskany Falls", New York.
