Before the Antietam Campaign:
Enlisted as a private in Company K, 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade, Georgia State Troops October 8, 1861. Mustered out April 8, 1862. Enlisted as a private in Company F, 50th Regiment, Georgia Infantry May 19, 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was mortally wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Paroled 25 September 1862, but died on the 30th. He was buried at Disciples Church Cemetery, Boonsboro.

After the War:
Moved to Washington Confederate Cemetery, Hagerstown as "unknown" in 1872.)
