Age 38, from Adrian, MI, he enlisted on 8 September 1862 and mustered as Private, Company A, 1st Michigan Infantry on 18 September 1862 in Adrian.

On the Campaign

He joined his regiment in Maryland, but died of disease at Frederick, MD on 30 November 1862.

After the War

He was originally buried in Frederick but was reinterred in the new Antietam National Cemetery in about 1867.
