Unit: 8th Connecticut Infantry

starstar

Before the Antietam Campaign:
Listed in Company D, 8th Connecticut Infantry.

The remainder of the War:
He was reinterred from his original burial on the Antietam battlefield to the National Cemetery during or before 1867.

References, Sources, and other notes:
Basic information from the Antietam Cemetery History1. Ingersoll's Catalogue of Connecticut Volunteer Organizations (1869) has no one named Farmer in Company D, or in any Company of the 8th Connecticut Regiment.

It is likely that this man's unit was misidentified at burial, and that he is Corporal William Whitney Farmer, Company D, 8th Ohio Infantry - KIA on 16 September.

Burial Place: Antietam National Cemetery, Sharpsburg, MD
