A miner from Portage Lake. Enlisted in Company F, Seventh Michigan Infantry, Aug. 8, 1861, at Portage Lake, for 3 years, age 26. Promoted Corporal May 12, 1862.

In the Antietam Campaign:
Probably mortally wounded at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The remainder of the War:
Died from amputation of leg at Frederick, MD on 18 October 1862.
