Before the Antietam Campaign: He was an 18 year old shoemaker from Worcester when he enlisted as Private in Company C, 15th Massachusetts Infantry. In the Antietam Campaign: He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862. The remainder of the War: He died of his wounds and was buried near the hospital.
