Before the Antietam Campaign:
Andrew T. McReynolds, then of Detroit, in 1847 recruited Company K of the Third U. S. Dragoons, served with it in Mexico as Captain, winning honorable distinction, and was brevetted Major.

He was born in Dungannon, Tyrone County, Ireland, on Christmas Day, in 1808. He came to America in 1830, to Detroit in 1833, and to Grand Rapids in 1859. He was prominent as an organizer and as an officer in the Territorial and State military affairs; and has served with credit and honor in many important civil positions. He began the practice of law at Detroit in 1840, and that has been his life profession.

The Lincoln [First New York] Cavalry, Col. ANDREW T. McREYNOLDS, took their departure yesterday for Washington, going by the Camden and Amboy route. The rumor, an unauthorized one, that the regiment was to have a presentation of regimental colors by Mrs. President LINCOLN, raised the hopes of the men somewhat, but they finally concluded to wait for the realization of their hopes until they reach Washington...

After the War:
He was US Attorney for the western district of Michigan, and in 1874 was elected prosecuting attorney of Muskegon County. He lived in Grand Rapids and Muskegon until his death at ninety years of age.
