Before Antietam

A 32 year old shoemaker in Canton, MA, he enlisted as Private in Company A, 4th Massachusetts Infantry on 16 April 1861 for 3 months and mustered out on Long Island, Boston Harbor on 22 July. He reenlisted and mustered as Corporal, Company K, 20th Massachusetts Infantry on 23 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was reinterred from his original burial on the Antietam battlefield to the National Cemetery, grave #903, during or before 1867.
